Red Square J Dilla Tribute set I

'Slick' - the show of oil & water

Three works accepted for Slick.
I submitted three paintings and one photograph.
The final product was not as I planned.
The photograph was an afterthought,
but the acceptance of the three paintings,
well,
that justified the time spent.
I will be picking up more canvas....

Latest Times Union post...

As usual, click HERE.

I was inspired by some of those arond me that ride.
I guess this is the time of year when you get the 'New Bike Itch',
REAL BAD!

And Valentine's Day really feels like a conspiracy between Hallmark,
restraunts, flower shops, and chocolate and panty makers.

"Febuary is a slow time of the year, can't we proclaim some kind of...
National Holiday to drive sales?"

I just function on what an old boss taught me,
'cash talks, bullshit walks', or... don't talk, just DO.
Show it in your actions, everyday.
Those that constantly talk about how they're doing something,
usually are just that, talking about it..... not doing it.
Anyways.....

New Directions?

Spent the other day painting with my
daughter. It's been forever since I've
painted. We mixed colors, switched
brushes, and just relaxed. It was
almost like therapy. I submitted one
photo and three painting for the next
show. A change. I've also spent what
little free time I have, trying to map out
a path for my photo work. We'll see...

Maybe We All Do...

"oh, you hate your job?
why didn't you say so?
there's a support group for that.
it's called EVERYBODY,
and they meet at the bar."
- Drew Carey

The workplace drama and dismal
realities are starting to set in. At least
I now know that I must spend sixteen
hours a week doing stuff around the
house or messing around online since
neither of those things happened last
week, but work got sixteen free hours.
I'll post more when there's an actual
day off. Just playing catch up with my
personal life, sorry!

Holidays

art in everyday life? sure.
travel with camera.

Cold Soup part 3

This is not cold soup,
actually it was hot,
tasty,
and didn't come from a can.
Surprisingly I didn't order a pile of garbage when I went out.

And this isn't soup either,
I never write about the missus,
she likes to be all mysterious and private,
even though I reassure her only three people ever read this blog.

Anyways,
this made up for about four straight days of cold soup.
Scallops,
cooked in red enchilada sauce,
over yellow rice.
THAT, is the recipe for awesome,
if you can't find it one day.

Cold Soup has been the epitome of my life lately.

Never time for a break.
When you finally get a chance,
you run in back, dump a can of soup into your crusty bowl,
and while it's cooking, you get pulled away into some ridiculous
problem that 'only you' can solve.

Only to return back to the microwave an hour later,
to cold soup.

Every day.
(except when I had scallops and rice, then I hid for fifteen minutes).

Camera nonsense

setting up the 88 medium format @ Sty Photo.

in the quest to simplify EVERYTHING,
consolidating some lenses,
figuring out what I need and like to shoot with,
and sell the rest.

less CAN become more.

converting all to 2.8 or 1.4,
quicker,
and heavier.
Like me? Sure, maybe this year.

Cold Soup part 4

people are just assholes.
not all,
but quite a few.

I don't advocate violence,
I usually go out of my way to avoid a confrontation.
but sometimes a quick ass kicking is a stronger lesson
than words falling on deaf ears.

we took in three puppies the other week.
puppies barely, maybe four weeks old.
abandoned in an apartment by the previous tenants.
left to die, until someone called animal control.
the officer that responded adpted two of the litter.

they had a severe case of worms,
distended bellys,
and they used rubberbands to 'doc' their tails.
just clamped them on until the tail fell off.
assholes.

at that point I just wanted the address,
let the news know.
I'm sure the landlord knows their names.
well, actually he does,
someone from the rescue went over,
the landlord got two dogs from them.
He's not going to help prosecute anyone.

And breeders?
Yeah, I 'got' Bella from a breeder.
Sure, they breed the crap out of them.
and when they are done? discard them.
Someone must have made $50,000 off of Bella in five years,
then dropped her off at the humane society to have her euthanised,
until someone saw what a good dog she was and rescued her.
now she has a real home, and can't stand male dogs,
wonder why?

people are assholes.

Cold Soup part 5

each day just rolls into the next

hello frozen pond,
Yes, I'm taking the less traveled path
since I don't feel like fighting with bad drivers.

maybe I just don't feel lucky
maybe I misplaced my fearlessness
so on past the quiet frozen pond,
only to lazily coast past it again tomorrow,
and the next day.

if Wednesday is the 'hump' day,
then Febuary must be the 'hump' month.
the colorful fall is long gone,
strange, I eagerly look forward to the wet spring,
since it'll bring the rich green scenery.

a day off provides a full list of 'should haves'
and 'could haves',
but sadly gets worked down to a couple of
'I guess I can's.
the sorry bike that I treasure
is coated in salt and it's sidekick,
rust.

I did go to the grocery store,
did two loads of laundry,
did the dishes,
and cleaned the kitchen floor (BEFORE cleaning the bike),
so I guess I'm ok for today being only semi productive.

and yesterday the little man helped rotate the other sets of wheels,
we swapped tubes,
realised we needed new tubes,
made a trip to the LBS,
saw Scrappy, the shop dog,
also got some advice on chain cleaners,
and input for the movie night for bike month.
Yes, you read that right,
I'm gonna bury myself again in some project,
to build on the local scene. Why? I don't know.

that's not including the side project of organizing roller racing,
(and all the other projects for Bke Month).

and it looks like I'll be doing another load of towels,

thank you guys,
it worked.
poor neglected bike is now not so sad.
now if I could wipe Febuary like a rusty chain.
