The best feedback I recieved was 'larger! big! all the detail is lost in a smaller print!". And larger it became. 16x20. Then 20x30. And so went the cost with each show. Then the need for selling for the sake of NOT losing money. The next piece of advice was 'commercial, safe, or mainstream. An easier sale.' Damn! Besides the fact of the last work sold, the buyer simply stated, 'you undersold yourself. I would have paid double that.' Well I want people to be able to purchase what they like and not come across as a pompous over priced artist. Still figuring out the rules of the game I guess. The next two shows don't hold much for me. I'm kind of at a crossroads of: do I continue at the gallery every month, or do I slow down and miss a few shows and try to focus online or through other channels? Don't know...

Some would say go with the flow. Others might say find your groove. Personally? I say, when you hit your stride, it's time to stretch...be it your imagination, media, endurance, patience, view of the world, whatever.
Plus, there's a whole myriad of trite cliches to choose from for some "sage" advice:
"Familiarity breeds contempt."
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder."
"How can I miss you if you never go away?"
....or even, "What's new?"
Art groups are generally good for challenging their members. And, because artists are creative thinkers and problem solvers, it doesn't matter if they use the same media as you do.
While you're pondering your next move, put some energy into organizing your image library and portfolio....that kind of activity has a tendency to spark a muse. tj
I don't have an answer or tip for you--sorry! But I am interested to see where you go from here. I'd like to get to the point that I was submitting my photographs to shows and able to sell some of them. But I don't even have the first idea how to start. So I'm eons behind you in the process (if there is one) and am interested to see where you go from here. I don't have a tip or answer, other than to say just DO something and give you encouragement.
p.s. thanks for stopping by the other day, my reply to your comment was not meant to be as snarky as it probably came off as being. Quite frankly I should focus on my photography!
yes... I would like to do some of this stuff
and it would be awesome if someone gave me list of ten DOs and DON'Ts
